Rotary Club of Windsor (1918)
The Club welcomed Dr. Phil Olla on Monday, May 25th, a Digital Health specialist with over 20 years' experience working at the leading edge of innovation discussed the importance of COVID testing, contact tracing technologies and re-opening the workplace. Dr. Olla, is the CEO of Audacia Bioscience, a Biotechnology company incorporating breath biomarkers, Artificial Intelligence, and smartphone technology to develop innovative solutions.
Dr. Olla and his team have developed a 3-step process to keep the doors of small and medium-sized businesses open. It starts with an app – where most companies are manually keeping track of their employees, Audacia Bioscience has developed an app that allows employees to self-assess before starting their shift. Each self-assessment generates a rating green, yellow or red advising both the employee and the employer of the likelihood that they are infected by the virus.
Club President, Gord Faas, installed new members, Theresa Schuurman and IgorDzaic.Theresa and Igor gave a capsule “This is My Life” presentation and were welcomed to the Satellite.
Following the installation ceremony, Rick Caron introduced Jeanne Knopf deRoche, who served as leader of the Education VTT to Ghana. Jeanne’s presentation featured a video of the construction of a village school as seen through the eyes of a young student named Precious. Precious tells us that one day a group of people called, “Rotarians” arrived and said that they were going to establish a school in her village. Up until that time, classes were held under a large shade tree in the village. Precious takes us through the process of building the school and training the teachers who will work there. Jeanne then reviewed the challenges that had to be overcome before local authorities were brought on board. Members were encouraged to participate in World Community Service activities.
