Rotary Club of Windsor (1918)
Don Snyder and newly appointed Paul Harris Fellowship Chair Renee Pare together led the PHF ceremony, beginning with honouring Patti France, President of St. Claire College, nominated by Kay Douglas for her community involvement. Kay as well as Romeo Girardi were presented with their 5-sapphire pins and Nick Bibic with his Ruby pin. Lastly, Bev Cyr honoured her son-in-law Carl Mitroff as a PHF.
As January is Vocational Service Month, President Nominee Cindy Duggal spoke briefly about her occupation.
Our Club celebrated Past Presidents on our 3rd annual Past President's Day. As is the tradition, the immediate PP, in this case Jules Hawkins, lead the ceremonies. The question posed this year asked the Past Presidents to describe their Proudest Rotary Moment, and the responses were incredible. Reflections included many past service projects, such as our Club's involvement in Polio Eradication, Maternal and Child Healthcare in Ghana, the establishment of Maryvale and John McGivney, our area club's involvement in planting the Rotary Forest and more. Other moments included RI and our Club's own Centennial celebrations, and many others.
Members welcomed Sarah Roddy with her path to entrepreneurship. Sandra is the owner of GetintheloopWindsor-Essex which gives small business owners a stronger voice in the marketplace. Sarah provided a tour of how she came to be where she is today being one of the few women taking a computer science program in university. One of her goals is to help women gain more confidence in the computer world. She has started a Learning Code chapter in Windsor and conducts workshops on how to use the code. Her web site will provide more information. Next, members provided a very short resume of their vocations.
