Neil McTavish began his presentation by explaining why he's passionate about our newly established Rotary Beach Bash Volleyball fundraiser, and the plan for it to become an annual initiative. He presented Joel Rankine and partner Pierce Johnson, winners of the Open Doubles, with a sentimental trophy. Neil explained that Joel's dad Gary had made the trophy for Neil when he held a volleyball fundraiser 20 years ago and had no money to buy a trophy. Overall, Volleyball was a successful fundraiser this year with the potential to grow in the future.

Randy Winters, chair of Art in the Park, showed a video that was generously created by Stephen Courtney and David Wharton of Pangraphica, who captured hours of footage at this year's event. The team had attended AIP for many years and wanted to record this year, given that it's our 40th Anniversary. The 2018 event brought approximately 22,000 visitors, which is around what we've typically done in the past - great, considering the bit of rain we had on one of the days this year. Randy was happy to announce that Joel Rocheleau will be taking over responsibilities as chair of Art in the Park in 2020.

Janet Kelly, Children's Fest Chair, and Pat Kelly and Luciana Rosu-Sieza (Bana) presented a very positive report for this year's event. Even though there were some more expenses, Children's Fest was up in both attendance and revenue. It was quite a successful year, and we're looking forward to next year's event, which will mark our 25th Anniversary holding Children's Fest in the community!

Announcing the return of ROTARY NIGHT AT THE THEATRE featuring the University Players’ production of  A Street Car Named Desire by Tennessee Williams.

When: Friday, November 2nd at 8 p.m.
Where: Essex Hall Theatre on the main campus of the University of Windsor

Often regarded as one of the finest plays of the 20th century, A Streetcar Named Desire was written in 1947 and tells the story of an impoverished thirty-something named Blanche DuBois who travels from Mississippi to New Orleans to live with her sister, Stella, and her brother-in-law, Stanley Kowalski. Blanche and Stanley are like oil and water. Tensions mount as they clash in what is already a volatile Kowalski household.

A dessert soiree will follow immediately after the play at the home of Peter and Denise Hrastovec.

Tickets are $15 and are available through Peter Hrastovec (cash or cheque only).
