Remembering Murray Elder
February 10, 2023
It is with great sadness that we share the passing of Rotarian Murray Elder on February 10, 2023 at 96 years of age. Survived by his loving wife Fran of 70 years. Dear father of Greg and wife Stephanie, and predeceased by his daughters Dr. Janice Elder (2023) and Nancy (2012).
A few words from Lex McCrindle:
In his Rotary years, Murray was a powerhouse of getting things done. He is a past president of the club and a former governor of our Rotary district. I particularly worked directly with him during the construction of the Safety Village. As the president of the Essex Terminal Railway, he was pleased to get involved with the safety for children – particularly with children’s safety at railroads. At considerable expense, he had a railway station and crossing signals installed in the village to the delight and benefit of children for years to come. We have not seen Murray for quite a few years due to his health issue of Alzheimer’s disease.
