Colleen Mitchel spoke on behalf of the our Club's Community Service Grants committee. She briefly explained that the committee started 6 years ago in response to feedback that members wanted to have more impact in our own community. We've since allocated close to $325,000 to local organizations, including those that focus on initiatives for children and youth, equipment/renovations to increase delivery of services and increasing access to services/opportunities for people/families living in low income.
Mike Drake announced that nominations are being accepted for the Walter P. Willms New Rotarian Leader Award. Club Awards will be presented on Monday, June 17th during the regular Monday meeting. If you have not yet nominated a Rotarian for this award, please complete the form at https://rotary1918.com/page/walter-p-willms-new-rotarian-leader-award-nomination-form. Nominations will be open until June 1 and a winner by the committee will be selected shortly thereafter.
Peter Hrastovec reminded the Club about Rotary International's "Every Rotarian Every Year" initiative, which encourages all Rotary Club members to contribute $100 (or the equivalent of the Club's total donations) to Annual Fund every year in order to help Rotary Foundation. Our Club has been able to access grants and do incredible things because we've always managed to reach this EREY goal. It's important we do it again, but we have a ways to go - and only until the end of June to do it. To donate, please visit https://rotary1918.com/page/donate and select "Annual Fund (RI)" or call the office at 519-253-6382.
