May 14 – No meeting - meeting moved to the Centennial Gala, May 12
May 21 – No Meeting, Victoria Day
The Club welcomed new member George Mikhael.
Dr. Om Chandra spoke about the important work he and his team do for the Canadian World Education Fund (CWEF). CWEF’s goal is to provide financial assistance to widowed families, for the education of children in need. Since the program's inception in 1996, the number of students helped rose from 8 to 1351. The UN has recognized June 23rd officially as International Widow's Day, an important step in recognizing the magnitude of this issue.
Also on the agenda was the presentation of the 2018 Rajbir (Roger) Mann International Service Award, recognizing Ron Arkell, “who demonstrates energetic and enthusiastic service internationally”. This award honours past Rotary Club of LaSalle Centennial member Roger Mann who was involved with over twenty-three water and sanitation projects in India, Africa, and Mexico.

On Saturday, April 28th, 300 trees were planted by 56 volunteers along the Rotary Club of Windsor (1918) Centennial Hub. A dedication ceremony then took place. Trails throughout Essex County are now accessible, thanks to this very special project.
Caesars Windsor, scheduled to host our celebration, has informed our Gala Committee that they are cancelling all events booked in early May. As a result we have had to move our centennial celebration. We are very fortunate that the Greek Community Hall located at 3052 Walker Rd, Windsor is opening its doors for the first time this week and we are going to be their first guests!
