The guest speakers last Monday were Rotarian Greg DeHetre, Lorraine Steele, Phil McLeod and Barry Brodie of SHO Studios. Since 2009, SHO has been showcasing a diverse spectrum of work from original playwriting and productions to public art installations and visual art exhibits. They explained how committed they are to "nurturing, presenting and celebrating Windsor's creative arts community". An artistic hub, SHO connects creative people and fosters the arts through unique programming, promotion and creation of new and original works by local artists.

When our Club's Centennial Gala was forced to relocate, SHO worked diligently to help provide us with a beautiful venue and truly memorable event.

Apart from special events, ongoing monthly programs such as Life Drawing, the OnRoots musical series, and Page to the Stage keep SHO Studios busy throughout the year. SHO is looking to grow and presented renderings of their proposed 11,000 sq. ft studio expansion with a 99 seat theatre. Breathtaking.

Grand Opening (Take Two!):

The Grand Opening of the Rotary Club of Windsor (1918) Centennial Plaza, a truly significant recognition of our Club’s Centennial, took place on the evening of Tuesday, May 29th, 2018. A beautiful night (with perfect weather!) set the stage for what proved to be an absolutely monumental event. To begin the ceremonies, Piper Greg Pearson played, followed by rhythmic sounds of Spirit of Four Directions, led by Theresa Sims. Carly Kelly sang the Canadian and US National Anthems. Greetings were heard from Rotary Club President Elect Jules Hawkins, Mayor Drew Dilkens, Centennial Chair Maureen Lucas and District Governor 6400 Dr. Rick Caron. The project overview was explained by Legacy Committee Chair Janet Kelly, and project partners from the City of Windsor, Stefan Feduik and Mike Clement spoke about their involvement. The magnificent kinetic light geode was unveiled by Helga Reidel, President and CEO of ENWIN and artist/sculptor Nicolas de Cosson. CAMM representatives presented the gateway markers and the evening ended with the ceremonial ribbon cutting.
