Members welcomed Sandy Murphy from the Murchadha (Gaelic for “Murphy”) House Project.
Sandy began by reminding members that children who have come through the John McGivney Centre eventually grow up and will need continuous support throughout their lives.  There are currently 11,000 children and young adults on a waiting list for assisted living facilities in Windsor-Essex County.  Sandy and her husband have championed the building of a house in Cottam for 4 adults requiring assistant living.  The project began as a non-profit in February, 2018 and was registered in January, 2019.  Construction on the house began in June, 2019 and the ribbon-cutting ceremony was held in December.  Sandy shared photos of the building process and was certainly a testimony of what can be done by a determined and dedicated organization.
