Great first meeting of the Rotary Satellite Club of Windsor (1918) Evening! Amazing enthusiasm for this new initiative - and everyone helped with our Mats for Hope project (developed by our Young Rotary Leaders), which re-uses plastic bags to create sleeping mats for those who suffer from homelessness. Way to go!

The first meeting of the Satellite Club was held on October 8 with 30 Rotarians and potential members in attendance. PDG Rick Caron introduced Colleen Mitchell, Chairman. Colleen welcomed everyone and announced that the application has been approved by RI and the Satellite is now official. After a lively session of fines, Colleen provided an overview of the goals of the Satellite.  Members of the Satellite are members of the Rotary Club of Windsor (1918) but not all members of Windsor (1918) are members of the Satellite. Membership Application Forms were available.

Following the short business meeting, Julia Lee presented information on the Mats for Hope project – producing sleeping mats from plastic bags for the homeless. The group then formed work stations and undertook the various steps needed to produce the mats. Some cut strips from plastic shopping bags; some knotted the strips together and others began the process of “crocheting” the strips into mats.

After the recitation of the 4-Way Test and a photo shoot, the meeting was adjourned.
