Welcome to the Easter Seal Telethon Page.
The Telethon is
the flagship event for the Easter Seal Society.
The Year 2002 Telethon was held at the Capitol Theatre
on March 9th and 10th
The Easter Seal Telethon is usually held on a Saturday and Sunday in
late February or early March, around Easter. Over the years, the set
has been located in
various buildings - most recently in the Capitol Theatre which provides
a comfortable and exciting setting for both the entertainers and the show
audiences. The show is produced live - the largest LIVE television
production in this area. The goal is to encourage the public to call
in to make pledges for Easter
Seals. Rotarians go into the community to seek VIPs and Spotlight
Panelists who become part of the set and come on air to encourage
viewers to pledge to Easter Seals. Windsor's Telethon has been on
since 1982 and is among the top fundraising Easter Seal Telethons in the
province. The show features local radio personality Wayne Stevens
as the host along with other local celebrities.
Timmy or Tammy (selected by the Rotary Club of Windsor, for
the year, to represent all Easter Seal children with physical
disabilities), is featured throughout the show along with other
Easter Seal families who have been supported by the Easter Seal
Society.
Individuals, corporations and organizations are also
invited to come on air to make their donations.
