Welcome to the Interact/Rotaract Page. The information
below describes a portion of the mandate and activities of the Youth Services Committee.
Beginning in Rotary Year 2000, the Interact and Rotaract Committee became part of the Youth Services Committee.
Youth Services Committee Interact/Rotaract Club Mandate
The Youth Services Committee shall Seek to develop and support an Interact and Rotaract club
in the Windsor area.
Interact
is a Rotary-sponsored service club for young people age 14-18. Interact Clubs
can either be school or community based and are required to carry out at least two
service projects annually, one that serves their school or community and another
that furthers international understanding. Although each club is sponsored by a local
Rotary club whose members offer guidance, Interact clubs are responsible for
planning, financing, organizing, and executing their own projects.
Rotaract is an international organization of service clubs for men and women aged 18-30 that fosters leadership and responsible citizenship, encourages high ethical standards in business and promotes international understanding and peace.
It enables members to meet people, try new activities, and make a difference in their local community.
Rotaract Clubs work under the guidance of their local Rotary Club, and take their name from a combination of the words Rotary and action.
The first officially chartered Rotaract Club was in North Charlotte, North Carolina, in 1968, but clubs of young people associated in service with local Rotary Clubs had existed for several years in India and Europe.
Clubs draw members from the community or are organized as an extracurricular activity for college students. Rotaract Clubs conduct formal meetings, usually every two weeks, which feature speakers, tours of local businesses, cultural activities, discussions, and visits to other clubs. Rotaractors utilize weekends for service project work, social events, and professional and leadership development workshops. Every Rotaract Club is part of a district Rotaract organization, run by elected representatives with support from sponsoring Rotarians.
Rotaract Goals
- To develop professional and leadership skill
- To emphasize respect for the rights of others, based on recognition of the worth of each individual
- To recognize the dignity and value of all useful occupations as opportunities to serve
- To recognize, practice and promote ethical standards as leadership qualities and vocational responsibilities
- To develop knowledge and understanding of the needs, problems and opportunities in the community and worldwide
- To provide opportunities for personal and group activities to serve the community and promote international understanding and goodwill to all people
Interact Club is Launched
Windsor has a new Interact club based in Assumption High School.
The Club was introduced at the September 24, 2007 Rotary (1918) meeting by Rotarian Kay Curtis, who was responsible for its start.
Club members were introduced individually as Rotarian Zora Sanson listed their credentials and aspirations.
The club president, Michelle, gave us an outline of what they
plan on doing this year and a short inspirational speech about their belief in Rotary's principles. Her talk was met by a standing ovation from the audience.

The Rotaract Club of Windsor
once again, presents
Information and Order Form
From: Bev Cyr, President, The Rotary Club of Windsor (1918)
To: Aaron Keogh and The Rotaract Club of Windsor:
I want you to know how much we appreciated the "2005 Battle of the Brains." We are still talking today about the really impressive amount of organizing and the many creative ideas, even to the April Fool computer crash. You must have done some serious planning to present the questions and then the answers on the big screen, and to tabulate and promptly announce the winners while we were still very much involved. Your marketing involved some very significant sponsors, and reached many Windsor people who I would not have expected to see there. It was a pretty full house and can only expect to get bigger when the people who were there talk about what a good time they had. You did a great service to Rotary and to the Safety Village, far beyond the money that was raised. Rotary, Rotaract and the Village all benefited from a very positive profile and increased awareness. Many thanks to you and to Rotaract.
