The Dick Hedke Memorial Award
The Dick Hedke Memorial Award honors the memory of Richard C. Hedke,
member of the Detroit Rotary Club and Rotary International President in 1946-47.
The award is presented yearly to the club in District 6400 that achieves the best balance
in all Four Avenues of Service.
In addition, clubs that have achieved significant achievement in each of the Four Avenues of Service are also recognized.
The preparation of the report gives each club an opportunity to examine how it is operating in respect to a list of accepted Rotary standards. In fact, the most important benefit of the Hedke Application is the formal process of regularly examining annual activities and then recommending to the Board how the club activities may be improved.
Since the award's first year in 1969-70, Windsor (1918) has won the award in the following years:
1973-74
1977-78
1980-81
1981-82
1984-85
1993-94
Rotary District 6400 hosts a number of annual Awards designed to encourage active participation of individual clubs in the Rotary tradition.
