Janet Kelly and Pat Kelly gave an insightful recap about this year's Children's Fest. Both attendance and revenue grew from last year. It was an incredible accomplishment, and thanks were offered to both committee members and volunteers. Luciana Rosu-Sieza, Executive Director at BANA, also spoke about some of the amazing initiatives and services BANA offers. BANA and our club celebrate four successful years of partnership on the annual festival.
Peter Hrastovic got into character as he and Pat promoted BANA's Speakeasy event. The organization will be celebrating 35 years of service to Windsor and Essex County on Saturday, February 17th at Caesars Windsor.
Also, an announcement was made that fellow Club member Chandra Kania, who recently celebrated his 90th birthday, will be the recipient of the John Ross Matheson Award for 2017, which, according to the Ancient & Accepted Scottish Rite of Freemasonry of Canada, is "the most prestigious award [the] Supreme Council can bestow on a brother to honour merit and ability, community spirit and a continued commitment to distinguished service to our community, country and mankind". A maximum of two awards can be given in Canada each year. The Award Ceremony will take place on Saturday, January 20th, 2018 in the Banquet Hall of the Masonic Temple located at 986 Ouellette Avenue. Congratulations, Chandra!

On the evening of January 18th, our Club received the Volunteer Organization Award at the Annual General Meeting of Essex Region Conservation. Discussed were some of our many initiatives that help our world, including our recycling program, Earth Day Cleanups, tree planting, global clean water and sanitation projects, aiding in the restoration of Willistead Manor, funding for a new Community Outreach Trailer and contribution for the creation of the Rotary Club of Windsor (1918) Centennial Hub.
Congratulations to fellow member Allison Prieur and her husband Jeff Hengstebeck on the birth of their beautiful daughter, Vivienne Dorothy Hengstebeck. Wishing you continued happiness, always.
