Upcoming Meetings:
Monday, September 4th: Labour Day, no meeting
Monday, September 11th: Meeting has been changed to September 12th from 6:00-8:00PM at the Ciaciaro Club to join the other Rotary Clubs in Essex County.
Thanks to the presenters at the last meeting, sponsored by our New Generations Committee. It was wonderful to hear about the incredible experiences these young people had, from developing first-hand knowledge about "Service Above Self" in Bangkok (Georgina Colthurst), to learning about leadership in the Canadian Maritimes (Karl Zhu). Rotary Youth Leader Awards (RYLA) alumni (Jessica Larkin and Kristi Koutros) also explained how much of an impact the program had on their lives. Thanks also to our members and their guests for a great turn-out!
Mike Drake presented Bill MacArthur with his commemorative 20-Year pin. Thank you for your dedication to Rotary.
Tom Goebel chairs the District Tree Planting Committee and explained that the goal is to plant 600 trees, building on the theme of this year, "Making a Difference".
Janet Kelley urged meeting attendees to help distribute Children's Fest posters and lawn signs, as the event is less than one month away. Also, as part of the Legacy Project, a reminder that the cut-off date for purchasing items for the Centennial Rotary Plaza is September 1st.
Walter Willms introduced the New Generations Committee, and Allison Prieur, the president of the committee, introduced the speakers: Georgia Colthurst and Karl Zhu. Don Larkin introduced RYLA alumni Jessica Larkin and Kristi Koutros.
Advance tickets: 5 for $20 available from Jan Kelly (jankelly@cogeco.ca) or pick up at Monday’s meeting.
Posters and road signs will also be available at Monday’s Meeting
Foundation Fund elects Emma Bufton as Treasurer
"The Foundation Fund at its August Board meeting elected Emma Bufton as its new Treasurer replacing Bob Thompson who will remain on the Board. Ian Henderson, a long time outstanding Board member is leaving the Board to make way for Emma's appointment. I want to express The Board's appreciation to both Ian and Bob on their dedication, and welcome Emma in her important new role".
